Wine can be amusing, and it can also be drunk in a park (well some parks), but I never thought we’d be sitting here talking about a wine amusement park. However that’s the world we live in, and I’m happy to be part of it.
You won’t find roller-coasters with vertical drops, or 90mph takeoffs…just think of the spillage. However the Bordeaux based theme park does have gentle rides to complement the main focus on the theme park, wine! Learning about wine. Sniffing wine. Tasting wine, and of course purchasing wine.
The venue itself looks rather special, developed to be an engaging immersive environment. with architecture giving the impression of wine being swirled in a glass, a carafe filled to the brim. The mission of La Cité du Vin in their own words is to:
Promote and share the cultural, universal and living heritage that is wine with the broadest possible audience. to focus on emotions, sensations and imagination. To pass on knowledge interactively, to experience things at your own pace, to learn according to your personal wishes.
The amusement park has been open since June and will set you back just 20 euros. Packed with workshops and tours, restaurant and shops, this is the perfect day trip for anyone visiting Bordeaux.
