We’ re donating £2 for every bottle of South African wine sold on 18th July to the Mandela Foundation
This Thursday (18th July) is Mandela Day. For those of you who don’t know, Mandela day is a celebration of Nelson Mandela, his tireless struggle for human dignity and his lifelong commitment to pursue the greater good.
The principle behind Mandela Day is to inspire individuals to take action to help change the world for the better, and in doing so build a global movement for good. Nelson Mandela gave 67 years of his life fighting for the rights of humanity, and so people worldwide are encouraged to give 67 minutes of their time, whether it’s supporting a chosen charity or serving the local community.
To honour Nelson Mandela’s extraordinary life and legacy, the Virgin Group and Virgin Unite are supporting the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory in South Africa in their Mandela Day campaign. Virgin Money Giving has set up a fundraising page for anyone wishing to make a donation to honour Nelson Mandela’s legacy, while Richard Branson has committed to spending 67 minutes on 18th July mentoring a group of young entrepreneurs.
Meanwhile, here at Virgin Wines, we have pledged to give £2 for every bottle of South African wine sold during the day* to the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory. If you would like to help us in supporting Mandela Day, visit our website on Thursday.
*A contribution of £2 per bottle excluding VAT will be made to the Nelson Centre of Memory on every bottle of South Africa wine sold via www.virginwines.co.uk between 00.01 and 23.59 on Thursday 18th July.
